Have you ever noticed how games have gone up in price by tremendous amounts since we were all little boys and girls.
As a 19 year old lad, I have seen my fair share of games, and platforms go from top of the line to practically steam powered dinosaurs.
This is made even more apprent in the gaming world most recent creatations which I shall refer to as 3G games and platforms. These would be Microsofts XBOX 360, the succesor to the XBOX Microsofts first stab at the gaming industry, and SONY's Playstation 3 the succesor to funilly enough the Playstation 2.
Both companies have produced platforms would've been tried for witchcraft a few years ago. Both have been loaded with so much technology that it has been speculated that they will remain top of the line for the next decade!
Many of you out in the real world would be thinking "wow great". Not so.
Many people including myself have been discouraged from buying the platforms due to the prices of over £250. It is hard to beleive that one of these manufacturer are running at a loss.
The games have been priced at around £50 due to the increased developement costs. These games could be concidered cheap in a few year time as manufacturers dicover the true power of working with these formats and processing capabilitys.
It is my beleif that the gaming industry is sure to hit a shortfall in years to come. It is becoming more and more targeted at hardcore gamers, as uposed to the run of the mill child or...me. Games are far to expencive for me to waste money on.
